WHAT IS “DRAMASEEKER”?
DramaSeeker is a newer element of the conference and it has become a source for new drama scripts for thousands of drama ministries each year. In keeping with our goal of encouraging attendee participation, attendees are invited to submit their original scripts.
From all the submissions, a panel of varied drama leaders and industry professionals select the best to be included as an additional resources on the SongSeeker CD.
WHAT KIND OF SCRIPT CAN I SUBMIT?
We are only looking short sketches appropriate for use during a worship service (3-7 minutes in length), not one-acts or full-lenth plays. Sketches can be dramatic, comedic or serio-comedic.
CAN I SUBMIT SKETCHES THAT USE MUSIC?
For copyright reasons, you may not submit sketches that necessitate music. You may make a general reference to underlying music or music that follow, but please don't use specific song titles.
HOW MANY SCRIPTS CAN I SUBMIT?
Each attendee may submit two (2) scripts.
WHAT FORMAT DOES THE SCRIPT NEED TO BE?
We can only accept Word documents. We ask that you email your submission to shawnk@saddleback.net as well as fax or mail a copy of the signed License Agreement to be received by the deadline.
WHEN WILL I BE NOTIFIED?
Once the deadline passes on May 26th, the selection process takes a few days. When the scripts are chosen, we notify the writers immediately by email. Unfortunately, due to the large volume of submissions, we can only notify the selected writers. So, if you don’t hear from us within a week of May 26th, your script was not selected. (But thank you in advance for your submission, and keep trying!)
AM I GIVING UP MY RIGHTS TO OR OWNERSHIP OF MY SCRIPT?
No way! This project is entirely to promote the original scripts and playrights of the local church. The writer retains all rights to the script. See the application guidelines for more details.
WHEN IS THAT DEADLINE AGAIN?
12:00am on May 26th is our absolute cutoff. To be fair to all, we will not accept any submissions that come in after that time!
WHO GETS THE FINAL CD?
The CD is handed out FREE to every attendee at the conference. This means that thousands of worship and creative arts leaders and decision makers are walking away with your scripts so they can start using it their churches right away!
BE SURE TO CAREFULLY READ THE GUIDELINES AS LISTED ON THE APPLICATION. INCLUDE THE SIGNED AGREEMENT WITH YOUR APPLICATION AND SUBMISSION.
